IC Ireland to visit IC Denmark

22nd of June 2025 at B93 (Copenhagen)

In our first ever match against the IC of Ireland in Copenhagen we were blessed with very nice, although windy, weather at Boldklubben af 1893 in Copenhagen.

The one-day event began with an introduction and a light breakfast to players and accompanying supporters at the club house. 13 players form each country were present on the day, making 4 rounds of tennis a tight program.

We then witnessed many good, close and competitive matches, completed in a very friendly atmosphere. IC of Denmark won narrowly and there were many very close matches, which indicates that the pairing was well balanced by the Captains(Jerry Sheehan and Steen Biilmann).

In between the 2 day sessions we all had a traditional Danish lunch with open sandwiches, to everyones delight.

This day leaves a lot of wonderful memories together with all the other tennis players from the Danish and the Irish teams, who all have a common passion for the sport and enjoy travelling together as a team and play international matches.   

On behalf of all the Danish IC, thank you everyone for contributing to a great experience in Copenhagen, namely Jerry Sheehan, Conor McCullough, Susanne Gotil and Hans Peter Michealsen who made a great effort to plan the ambitious one-day program and organized the whole event. 

A very special thanks to the Irish Ambassador in Denmark, Elizabeht McCullough, not only for attending play during the day but in particular for facilitation drinks, a delicious dinner and a very memorable evening at her residence, where talks went on outside until late evening, due to the very nice weather we were blessed with.

We are looking forward to a return match against the IC of Ireland and many great tennis moments together with you all in the future.
