IC Denmark visiting IC of Ireland at the historic and traditional Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin May 2026

A memorable friendly match with the IC of Ireland at the historic and traditional Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin on May 2 and 3 2026

We arrived at the very close by hotel Clayton, which was a perfect spot for both tennis and walks to the city center with it´s beautiful canals, old housing and docks.

Many good, close and competitive matches, good talks, lovely dinner, networking across the board and a lot of team spirit we enjoyed. Thus many new friendships were created in the spirit of IC.

The official dinner, with speeches by Anne Flemming on behalf of the IC of Ireland and Steen Biilmann on behalf the IC of Denmark, was held at the very nice lounge of the club house on Saturday, where we had an delicious and memorable dinner in very cozy surroundings.

All the enthusiastic Danish tennis players were struggling against a very well playing Irish Team, who, although in many tight matches had a convincing win in matches overall 8 – 3 in an agreed upon format. We remain with the memory of well playing and friendly opponents, and we are all thankful to have a sport for a lifetime and are looking forward to a rematch in Denmark.

This trip leaves a lot of wonderful memories together with all the other tennis players from the Danish team and the players from Ireland who all have a common passion for the sport and enjoy travelling together as a team and play matches.   

On behalf of all the Danish players thank you everybody for a great experience in Dublin and especially to Anne Flemming and Susanne Gotil (being the respective Captains) as well as the Chairman of the IC of Ireland, Connor McCullough, for taking the initiative to the match as well as organizing the event details. 

We look forward to many great tennis moments together with the IC of Ireland future on.
